Wahlund-Benson Dances, The-SD

The Benson Dances by Ben Wahlund is a collection of snare drum solos inspired by the music of Warren Benson. In the first dance non-parallel rhythms flare up in urgent waves, similar to the styles of Delecluse or Zibkovic, and exhibit augmented versions of the original Cretan Dance, in a style like that of Gonzalo Rubalcaba. The second dance is loosely based on an Afro-Cuban 12/8 pattern. The third dance departs from the traditional Fandango but the popular stick on stick component is still intact. A rock feel is employed in its place. The three dances are titled Discrete in Dance, Afreaux Trot, and Fawn. Duration: 5 minutes.
