Ponchione-Creation, The (SP)-B/V/C/Cro./2M/P

The Creation (a sonic manifestation) by Cayenna Ponchione for percussion ensemble. This programmatic work entertains the concept of the Big Band and the perception of matter as vibration. The work was written using loose serial techniques tempered with musical taste and an awareness of programmatic necessity. A twelve-tone row was utilized as a representative structure of the all-encompassing nature of the 'Sonic Fabric.' This row was then manipulated to create the rhythmic and tonal soundscapes of the following sections. The instrumentation was chosen to best depict the varying sensitive and raw elements of our cosmic environment.
