The Furious Angels by Jeffrey Peyton for percussion septet. This scherzo diabolique explores the many permutations of the scherzo, particularly the momentum and rhythmic energy inherent in 6/8 time.

Player 2 - vibraphone, medium suspended cymbal, bass bow
Player 3 - 4.3-octave marimba
Player 4 - 4.3-octave marimba, small and medium suspended cymbals, tuned gong or temple bell in F, glass wind chimes, large lion's roar, bass bow
Player 5 - 4.5-octave marimba, large suspended cymbal, mark tree, China cymbal, bass bow
Player 6 - chimes, crotales (high octave), large bass drum, 2 suspended cymbals, glass wind chimes, small tuned gong in Bb and large pail of water, large bell plate, bass bow
Player 7 - timpani, small tam tam, small and medium suspended cymbals, mounted tambourine, bass bow
