Block-Sails of Athens (SP)-M/VC

The Sails of Athens for marimba and cello by Caryn Block requires a 4.3-Octave marimba and six mallets. The score includes notes to transform the six mallet passages into four mallet passages. The Sails of Athens is the first movement of the multi-movement work Odyssey for Marimba and Cello. Each movement in this duet has its own character to depict the diversity of life and society in Ancient Greece, with its magnificent legacy in the fine arts. The music has been flexibly composed in such a way that a percussionist and cellist may perform one or two movements alone or Odyssey in its entirety.
