Description
The Swallow is a folk song from western China, Xinjiang. It's a love song expressing a man's admiration to a girl. The folk song itself is in AABA form with different lyrics. This marimba solo by Hsin-yi (Sharon) Chen is based on this folk melody. Chen develops it using elements from the A phrase; the middle section is a variation of the whole song, and the original melody is not presented until the end. Written for 5 octave marimba, four mallets.
