Hasenpflug-Third Dance for Marimba-M

Third Dance for Marimba by Thom Hasenpflug was composed in 1989 as the companion piece to Two Short Dances. Although slightly more complicated rhythmically, Third Dance contains similar treatment of thematic cells which rely upon the tri-tone and carious triplet figures. After the work was unfortunately lost, it was painstakingly reconstructed in manuscript, note by note, from a surviving taped performance and several sketches. The majority of the dance is virtually unchanged from its original version, though a few minor revisions were necessary. Scored for 4.3 octave marimba, 4 mallets.
