Description
No Longer Two by Dr. Tracy Thomas is an expressive, lyrical piece for solo marimba. This piece was written while Thomas was attending Missouri Western State University, and reflects the idea of marriage. The concept of two people becoming one inspired both the harmonic ideas and the melodic movement between both hands. The piece begins with a somewhat dark mood and slowly morphs throughout to a very joyful ending. The marimba writing was highly influenced by the sticking patterns found in Eric Sammutt's "Four Rotations," and would be a great fit for an undergraduate or graduate level recital or for performing at wedding.. No Longer Two requires a 4.6 (low E) octave marimba (4 mallets).
