Description
Tiktaalik by Robert S. Cohen is a percussion ensemble piece written for five or more players. Tiktaalik is a 375 million year old large scaly fish that some scientists believe is the long sought missing link in the evolution of fishes from water to a life walking on four limbs on land. While Tiktaalik is still a fish, it has anatomical traits that anticipate the emergence of land animals and thus may be a predecessor of amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, and mammals. This rhythmically and melodically complex challenging work requires a large and diverse grouping of instruments.
