Time by Sam Adams for 9 member percussion ensemble. The title for this piece, Time, reflects several meanings. The first meaning of the title is the abundance of changing time signatures in the piece. Second, the musical styles employed by each movement are representative of those of time periods throughout musical history: from the Baroque and Renaissance-like opening sections of the fugue , call-an-response, to the Romanticism of the second movement, and finally to the more modern harmonies and time signatures of the third movement.
