Description
Seven of the works in this volume were written while I was a graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music, or shortly thereafter (the eighth, For Amsterdam, was composed for the students of the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2020). I have altered stickings, dynamics, and, in some cases, tempos of the original versions to give more shape to the pieces, and allow more natural phrases to come through.
Many of the ideas in Eight Rudimental Solos came from concepts that were introduced to me in lessons by Chris Lamb. I cannot thank him enough for his inspiration. These pieces are old friends, and it has been good to become reacquainted with them as I revised this collection. I hope you have as much fun playing them as I had writing them.
