Noble-Tre per Frette

Tre Per Frette by Javier Noble is a four mallet solo scored for 5 octave marimba. This work was inspired by the musicianship of Angel Frette and is dedicated to him. The first piece in this set has a character quite meditative with a chromatic language and broken rhythms. The second is pervaded by an even flow of quavers in a diatonic mode articulated by strong dynamics distributed in irregular patterns. The third piece goes back to the initial tempo, blending the chromaticism of the first piece with the isochronicism of the second piece in the set - each phrase leading to a tremolo that functions as a focal point.
