Udow-Toyama

Composed for the 1993 Toyama, Japan Percussion Festival, this work combines additive rhythmic compositional concepts utilized in the music of Frederick Rzewski and cycling rhythmic concepts familiar in the music of Steve Reich. Toyama is easily memorizable, yet develops high levels of concentration and attention to a strong sense of inner-pulse.
