I know I bought these for a use that isn't typically theirs. But I love the sound they make on the taiku drum! They have enough padding, enough of a long handle that isn't too long, and the weight of the sticks is perfect to bang hard but also to do a bit of a rolling beat if needed.
Didn't want to spend a lot of money on a pair of bass drum rollers. These work very well for those occasional passages needing a roll on the bass drum. Well made and light enough to control with enough weight to get a fundamental tone from the bass drum.

These are great bass drum rollers. Mostly because of the longer maple shaft. The handle feels so comfortable in my hands while rolling - the sound produced is very rich and full. It's very easy to control these mallets. Plus, the stained maple looks fantastic as well! For $42 these can't be beat!
