Vic Firth found the balance with high quality straight rattan to give the player both the flexibility of rattan and the firmness of birch. Tight wound synthetic cord covers a rubber core. This series only makes the difficult challenges of today's music a little easier.

I had received these mallets after being entered in a PAS contest, and the VP of our division gave me these mallets and I had given them a test drive the next hour or so after. I was very pleased with not just the length of the shaft, but also the dynamic contrast of the mallet from soft to loud and cutting! I can see this being used in not only solo pieces, but also percussion ensemble applications, jazz band, and beyond!
These are the mallets my instructor asked me to use. They are very versatile, and fit in my mallet bag nice and snug. In my Jazz band they produce a nice sound that sits between blending in and cutting through when i need them to. I'm very happy with my purchase and they were delivered promptly.
