Finally, they are making more sticks in a 17 inch length. These sticks have a great amount of reach nice feel good rebound and are very lightweight. Highly recommend.
Description
The Vic Firth Freestyle Series 7A features a 17" length with an extra long taper. The extended length and taper increases the range where the player can place their fulcrum. This offers a wide range of responses and feels out of a single pair of sticks.

I had a pair of 17" Regal Tip Chester Thompson drum sticks a long time ago and enjoyed the length. I thought I would try out these new Freestyle sticks by Vic Firth and see if they felt the same. I happen to like the feel and recommend them. I don't think they would work well for very heavy playing, but they work out fine for trio jazz and similar situations when a 7A stick is appropriate. I look forward to trying them with a big band or pit work. It is fun to move your grip around and see the effect that has, especially on ride cymbal.
