These mallets have a good weight on them and are just hard enough to get nice articulate sounds. Especially on 23'' drums

They can be very present and forceful on loud passages and yet you can do a soft roll and that flexibility is nice. When you do not have time to change mallets in a piece that requires a lot of pitch changes on the Timpani, you can be soft and subtle as needed. I recently played the "Star Wars Suite" that had seven movements and I was really busy with pitch changes in the faster and louder movements so I had to watch the pedals, the music and the conductor all at once so it was nice to have a pair of mallets for the Start Wars Theme, the Imperial March and the Throne Room- closing music all of which came off great where I had to get quite loud and aggressive. They are between being very hard and soft and are flexible. Good mallets.
These mallets are the perfect blend of articulate and smooth. The persimmon shafts feel great in my hands, and it's just the length I need for my stroke. I use the Genis stroke, so it's really easy to make the connection between my stroke and the mallet. This series is perfect!
These mallets are great. They feel great in your hands, which is a must (for me, at least). They're great for anything that needs to be articulate, and they're not too hard or obnoxious. Great for orchestral or band settings. I even use them for lots of solos... great for just about anything.
This mallet has a great combination of stiff articulation and smooth tonality. I'll use it for most of the Rite of Spring, Tchaikovsky's 4th, Strauss's Burlesk, Carter's March, Beck's Timp Sonata and Three Episodes. Great mallet for many different pieces.
