The Next Evolution in Multi-Tenor Performance
Designed in partnership with marching percussion legend John Mapes, the Vic Firth SMAPTS2 Multi-Tenor Stick represents the next evolution of his highly popular original model. Built for the modern competitive drumline, this implement provides players with the perfect balance, weight, and dual-surface versatility needed for highly expressive quad playing on the field or the winter floor.
Dual-Timbre Articulation
The John Mapes 2 tenor stick is engineered to deliver two distinct tonal profiles, allowing performers to execute rapid timbre changes with a simple flip of the stick:
- Black Nylon Disc Tip: Returning from the original SMAPTS design, this oversized nylon tip pulls a massive, clear, and highly articulate sound out of the drums.
- Copper Rubber Cap: The butt-end features an all-new copper-colored rubber cap, providing a softer, warmer tone for dynamic contrast and specialized musical passages.
Premium Hickory Construction
Crafted from premium USA Hickory, the SMAPTS2 is built to endure the aggressive demands of modern marching percussion. At 16.75 inches, it provides excellent reach across the tenor array, while the medium taper ensures a perfect balance point between the nylon tip and rubber butt for smooth, fast rebound.
