The heads on these mallets are very large, and very soft. The attack noise is minimal to nonexistent with these. I only purchased one pair because I didn't figure that anything I would play would call for something this soft for 4 mallet pieces, but hey, it might be a good idea to buy 2 pairs just in case. Incredibly pleased with these mallets!
