V.F. Split Brush

Vic Firth continues to push the envelope with new ideas and products. The Split Brush is definitely a cool idea with the two different lengths of wires for the brush. It does have a different sound from other brushes and for a "unique" sound this is very cool. However, I found it difficult to play anything fast rudimentally due to the overall length of the brush. Yes, you can adjust the length with the push rod, but then it negates the whole purpose of the "split brush". I'm sure I will find a use for this unique brush down the road. However, for me, the V.F. Russ Miller brush is THE BOMB. This brush yields a smaller wire spread but still gives a nice "stewing" sound. More importantly, I can play rudiments at a fast tempo effortlessly. Good luck either way.
