This product is hard to feed through the keys. And it does not melt down clean either. I had to glue a metal nail through in order to thread the cord.
Steve Weiss Premium Marimba Bar Cord is sold in a 40 foot length, which is enough for both the natural and accidental rows on virtually any marimba. This bar cord was selected to minimize contact sound, while holding up to the stress of everyday use.

This was definitely enough string for our marimba and threading it went very well once we figured out a good technique (instead of burning it I wrapped the ends in packing tape, cut at an angle, and then wrapped again with a fairly long packing tape "string" on the end to use to pull it through). Quality seems to be good and the price was definitely good. Thanks!
I ordered two lengths of this to restring our mallet instruments. My percussion technician was unable to get the string through the holes on the bars, even after heat-treating it. He said the material was very poor quality and he had to go to the hardware store to find a replacement. I do not recommend buying this product.
The cord seems to be working well. It did seem to stretch a bit and lose a little tension the first day or two after stringing so I just tied the knots a little closer to compensate. It was suggested that the ends be burned before stringing. I found that to be futile. Wrapping the ends tightly with tape, however, was the key. It passed through the bars easily and made the job a breeze.
I can't really vouch for the quality of the cord itself, but there is no "tip" to feed through the holes in your bars, just a slightly burnt end that doesn't do the job. Ever try to lace shoes without the tip on your shoelace? Try this times 10!
