What Shall I Cry? by Daniel Paul Davis was commissioned by the New Mexico Music Teachers Association and composed for Christopher Shultis. This piece was inspired by biblical passages from Isaiah and I Peter and displays many interesting textures while allowing ample opportunity for an advanced performer to show musical finesse. The layout of this piece was great. The piece is a tonal, really does not have a melody but gives you an opportunity to work on note accuracy and trains your memory. The piece also offers the player the chance to experiment with different stickings in a lot of passages, and if this is your first a tonal piece you will be able to develop a lot of new technique.
