Description

This exciting percussion ensemble arrangement is based on the original instrumental song by Steve Winwood, featured on Traffic's 1970 album John Barleycorn Must Die. The song also appears on Traffic's 1973 On the Road album and on Eric Clapton's and Steve Winwood's 2009 Live from Madison Square Garden album. Featuring notated solos for vibes and xylophone, this arrangement is designed to be "opened up" for blues improvisation, longer solos, as well as solos on additional instruments. Scored for xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, bass marimba (opt. electric bass), conga drum and drumset.

Steel drum bands are becoming increasingly more common in school and community music programs. Students from K–12, to college age and beyond, are experiencing the joy of performing on these Caribbean-created instruments. Compositions and arrangements for the steel drum band have been limited and challenging to obtain... until now. Alfred proudly announces Alfred's Steel Band Series, which will address the need for quality steel drum music written for all levels of bands. From elementary/beginning band to high school, college, community, and professional groups, the pieces you are looking for are here, expertly written by educators who have vast experience working with steel drum bands at all levels
