Description
World Beat Sonata by Robert J. Damm is a percussion ensemble piece score for 6 players. The "World Beat" part of the title refers to an electric form of contemporary music in which many diverse ethnic styles of music are combined. "Sonata" refers to a three part design (ABA) in which the B section is a free development of the A section. This unique work builds on numerous ostinato patterns, is fun to play, and easy listening for audiences.
Instrumentation:
Player 1 - Slit Drum (also known as log drum or tongue drum)
Player 2 - Talking Drum
Player 3 - Small and Large Axatse (gourde rattle also known as shekere), Small Metal Bowl with Marble
Player 4 - Ribbon Crasher, Tin Can (coffee can), Medium Metal Bowl with Marble
Player 5 - Woodblock, Saw Blade (circular saw blade suspended on a cymbal stand), Small and Large Triangle, Large Metal Bowl with Marble
Player 6 - Flexitone, Cymbal on Pedal Timpani, Extra Large Metal Bowl with Marble
