Soooo much lighter than my current stand. The older you get the lighter you want your hardware. It is sturdy, well made and did I mention very light. I and not a heavy player but I feel it will stand up to heavy playing. Use this for dinner theater shows and playing for a local singing group. Definitely saves the back by reducing weight in your hardware bag. Ordered the snare stand also as those were the 2 heaviest items in my bag. My back feels better already and Yamaha has a reputation of solid reliably built hardware.
