The backbar system was kinda weird to use but the carrier itself is awsome fit is great and the backplate helps alot for the fit would recommend this only for tenor drums
The Yamaha Randall May ABS Auto Release Tenor Carrier allows performers to get in and out of the carriers quickly with out loosing fits adjustments. The Contour Hinge allows for independent upper and mid body contour adjustment to custom fit a wide range of player sizes. The ABS Series carriers also feature the tapered aluminum abdomen plate that can be inverted, reversing its shape for a better fit depending on the preference of body type of the player. Additional features include infinite torso height adjustment and reversible ABS positioning, for larger players. Shoulder positioning can be fine-tuned by rotating the shoulder's caster down (into the back) and/or pivoting the camber angle (toward/away from the neck).

Awful, awful carriers. I hate Randall May and the concept of these carriers. The ABS back pieces are completely useless and only jab into your back making it extremely painful. The shoulder pieces and belly plate only have a thick piece of foam for padding which is not comfortable nor helpful. The shoulder pieces have no range of adjustability and really press into your chest which is very painful and the belly plate has little to no range of adjustability either. You can't use the carriers if you're really short, really tall, small-chested, or large-chested. There is just simply no way or any comfort of with these carriers. The Randy May drop and lock system is a huge mess. The drums can easily slide out and do not lock in place properly. J-rods are much more reliable and secure. Stick with Pearl and never go with Randy May. Save yourself the pain and misery of using these carriers.
Very disappointed with these carriers. I've had so many problems with them. The concept of the drop and lock system is so ridiculous. It's a 50/50 chance that I put the drums on and they will actually come down or won't come down. The shoulder parts push into your breast tissue causing it to bruise really badly. The ABS system hurts my back like hell. I took the carrier off feeling like I needed to see a chiropractor cause my back was so stiff from it. It doesn't rest on my spine properly no matter how many times I adjust the damn thing. Not to mention, my drum falls off of the carrier quite easily too and I've gotten really bad bruises on my legs because of it and just putting on it's very squeaky and makes ear piercing noises that make you want to rip your hair out. The padding is quite minimal too, just some thin pieces of foam that don't do much for the comfort of the player. Overall not happy at all with these carriers and will be sticking with Pearl Airframe carriers. At least those have some comfortable padding, designed with the player in mind and stick with a reliable J-bar system instead of the drop and lock system.
