these mallets are clearly based off the albright mallet style (although i've never played with the old original albrights). big heads and short shafts. compared to the red and blue stefon harris mallets, they have a darker sound but can be much harder when attacking the instrument. I would say these have the low end tone of the blues while approaching the high end punch of the yellows. the dan moore mallets have quite larger heads than the blue stefon harris mallets. also, these are VERY HEAVY mallets. my blue stefon harris mallets weigh in around 43 grams, while the dan moore are at 54. I was expecting something softer, but these are still decent mallets.
