These are my "Go to" XYLO mallets in an ensemble. They have a big full sound. Very highly recommend!
The Innovative Percussion IP904 James Ross Hard Glockenspiel or Xylophone Mallet produce a big round orchestral xylophone sound.
The IP904 has been designed for Chicago Symphony Orchestra percussionist James Ross. Nine different models are offered to meet the demands of today's orchestral percussionist.

If you are looking for a fat xylophone sound with less effort, mallets that you can really feel the weight in your hands, and double-stroke possibility, you found the perfect pair! Works well on glock too, the mallet heads are large though, so you might hit wrong notes if the bars are too narrow. Great for playing fast excerpts such as Porgy and Bess, and Sorcerer's Aprentice, with the minimum effort, short movements, yet big sound!
I'm not sure I agree with the complaints that these sound "clumsy"; I think they create a great, round, pop of sound (playing xylo in a large ensemble). I really like using them.
Great loud mallets that will cut through an orchestra or wind ensemble with ease. The mallet heads are quite big to enable a loud sound BUT DONT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF. Although the heads are big they do not sound clumsy. It is just sometimes a bit awkward to play glockenspiel quickly. I am using these mallets for the planets suite on xylophone, it is just perfect for Uranus. A great loud mallet HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Clumsy sounding. Too big. Cumbersome. Check out the IP Orchestral series and the Chris Lamb xylo series for a better choice in loud xylo mallets.
