I have nothing but great things to say about Steve Weiss music. I ordered a few pairs of vibe mallets and unfortunately, one of the pairs was broken. I contacted them and sent them a few pictures and a replacement set came in the mail by the end of the week for no charge. They were patient with me during the whole process and helped me out a ton!

They are good mallets but they are very heavy , like playing with a hammers.

One for the collection!

These Anders Astrand mallets are easily some of my favorite sounding mallets I have heard so far. The rubber core, and the nice chord wrap makes for a beautiful sound, and a really nice sounding attack note that I just can't get enough of! They're a little bit heavy for my tiny hands, but I LOVE playing anything with these mallets. Really great for rolls, very nicely balanced, and as I mentioned, a wonderful sound!

Beefy Mallets - but not very

If you like (and have little difficulty wielding) weighty mallets that produce a full tone throughout the marimba's range, then these are the mallets for you. They are heavier than most marimba mallets you'll find--noticeably heavier than most Marimba One mallets, more in the range of Innovative's Zivkovic line. Although wrapped in cord, I find they don't really make an unpleasant "chiff" when contacting rosewood bars, and are going to last longer than most wool-wrapped, purely-marimba mallets. The rattan shafts are very thick--a nice compromise between the rigidity of birch and the flexibility of thinner rattan shafts. The only issue I have had with them is that they are softer than one would assume based on the word "Hard" in their name. They are fairly "hard" for a marimba, cutting reasonably well through the top octave, but are more like a "medium" or maybe "medium hard" vibe mallet. It is worth noting, however, that when played with very high stick heights and with much weight, the hard core does come out, producing a sharper sound. Overall, tone is excellent, especially in the middle range of the marimba, but even in the bottom range, where they sound sharp but still full. Highly recommended for vibes or marimba, especially if you like rattan.
