Description

The Double Helix Series was developed to bring out the warmth of the fundamental throughout the range of the 5-octave marimba. The relaxed yarn tension on these mallets enhances the smooth, dark attack of the mallet.

The exclusive patent pending “double helix wrap” technique allows you to easily identify each mallet in the series. Two strands of yarn are wrapped independently of each other, creating a woven effect. After one of the strands makes a revolution around the mallet head, the other strand makes a revolution, securing the previous strand. This locks the yarn in place and prevents it from unraveling. This unique method of wrapping provides our mallets with their distinct look, and exceptional sound.

I have the entire set. I think these are some of the most versatile mallets out there. I have played everything from the Bach sonatas and partitas to modern pieces like Luminosity by Tomasz Golinski with these mallets and I have always liked the sound with attack yet still maintain a fullness. As for the weight they are my favorite mallets I have ever used. Some people might not like how light they are but as someone who uses an extended cross grip they make my life a lot easier. They also look cool which is always a bonus. My only problem with them is they are definitely pricey and they do not speak as well when trying to roll at quiet dynamics.

Excellent mallets

They are great mallets for anything on the mid too high range on marimba. I have used them countless times with great results!

I was a little worried these would be too hard when ordering them, but I was surprised upon receiving them. I would deem them more M-MH. They aren't too hard for the bottom register, and they speak decently in the top octave (you just have to give it a little more punch of you really want them to articulate). Good tone, a great mix of contact sound and bar warmth. I'm in love with the handles, nice and long, very thin, and a sturdy feel. Very easy to play 4-mallet stuff with. I'd recommend these to anyone who wants a general mallet set that has a little more articulation than the average general set.

These mallets sound amazing and weigh almost nothing. After warming up with my IP1003X mallets, I get a great tone quality and can play quick passages with ease with these mallets. Not to mention they look awesome.

Couldn't expect anything more

I absolutely love the weight of the mallet paired with how it strikes the keys on the marimba. If you are looking for a high quality mallet, look no where else.
