Weiss 08" China Splash Cymbal - Product Information

The Steve Weiss 08" China Splash offers a low cost way to add to your existing cymbal set-up. They can be played bell up or bell down for a more traditional approach.

This china features a low profile "square-ish" bell which is different our regular lion cymbals. These cymbals are also much thinner the traditional chinas we sell which makes them true splash cymbals. Handmade in Mainland China so you can be assured they're authentic!

Splash not Crash

Comments:

For Samuel R. Hazo's piece Arabesque for concert band, the percussion 2 part calls for China Cymbal on bar 69. Oh yes, congas and suspended cymbal as well, but those were taken care of. Drum kit 10" and 11" crashes just did not have the right sound, so I tried the Weiss 8" China. It works like a champ, and I have another stand on my kit now to use that rare but very distinctive sound. I also like the large bell because hit on top or from the side it gives two other timbres to the instrument. Edge side strikes also work, so this is a very versatile instrument. It has earned a place in my kit and on the gazebo for summer band as well.

nice for stacking

Comments:

On it's own, this is not very useful. It sounds a lot better stacked on top of another cymbal. As these are hand-made, mine may not be as good as some others.

good as it costs

Comments:

Its sounds like its worth 8 dollars. it breaks fast and it is borderline useless. unless you need a cheap cymbal really fast
