Cool

Comments:

I took a risk adding this orchestral snare head to my drumkit snare, but it sounds great. My kit has a dry and dark sound which this complements. Great for dynamic playing. I can't speak to the longevity of the head yet but I think for jazz playing it'll last a long time. Probably not as long if you play death metal haha

Great sounding head

Comments:

Comparable to the Remo Renaissance except it has a clearer tone, and not quite as much depth. Which is great if you are looking for clear, clean, tone with lots of resonance, good depth, and not too sharp of attack. It does "resemble" calf skin, in that it doesn't sound like plastic. But, I think the concert tom description is more accurate. Super versatile if you know how to manipulate that sound. I'm using them for everything from 60's rock to Funk and Jazz.

excellent option

Comments:

Excellent head. It's primarily an orchestral head so you can expect excellent articulation, and has plenty of ring to work with. (I prefer more ring and adding muffling as opposed to pre-muffled snare heads) I have it on a drum I use mostly for pit orchestra work, and it's great for low volume. My only complaint is you have to work a little harder to get a good sound with brushes, as the coating is very...smooth? It may sound a little too unique for certain pit situations, where you need to have a very conventional sound. No one has complained, but we're all so used to hearing ambassadors it's an adjustment. Anyway I'd recommend giving it a try!

Great for jazz

Comments:

These heads have a dark, warm tone with a muted attack. They work great for jazz in small settings, and sound very good with brushes. I haven't used them long enough to determine how durable the coating is, but they just sound "right" with flat belled cymbals, and I can really play in small venues without having to hold back.
