Marimba One Katarzyna Mycka KMR4 Medium Rattan Mallets - Product Information

The Katarzyna Mycka Professional Mallet Series are wrapped very tightly with all synthetic yarn. The combination of synthetic yarn and the tight wrap gives the immediate response of the bar that is required for ensemble and orchestra playing. The heavy weight of these mallets brings out the warmth of the bars by physically putting into motion the fundamental frequency of the bars.

Katarzyna recommends using this medium mallet for such pieces as Keiko Abe's Kazak Lullaby (+ one KMB5); Matthias Schmitt's Corrido; Ney Rosauro's Concerto No. 1 (1st).

Gorgeous mallets with lots of weight to them!

Comments:

These mallets really sing! I'm using them for a 2 mallet marimba solo, and they really have the weight needed to get a full sound with minimal effort at soft dynamics. I find they sound best in the middle range of the marimba, though their "middle" range is very wide. The solo I'm using them for goes from a low Db up to a high F and the mallets sound fine. They are heavier than some other common models (think Vic Firth's Van Sice), so they take a little getting used to, especially with the flexibility of the rattan. However, I've found they are worth it!
