Remo Symmetry Skyndeep Calfskin Graphic Conga Head - Product Information

With the help of the best percussionists in the world, Remo has improved the sound and feel of the drum heads providing the World's Top Players the tools they need to create their music. Remo's synthetic drum heads provide easy tunability, durability, and playability. Remo's Crimplock Symmetry, Type 4 conga drum heads now fit more conga drum models from the leading manufacturers in the industry.

Traditionally, drums like the conga, bongos and djembes have drum heads made with animal skins. These have worked very well for many hundreds of years and are still used on many drums. With 50 years of drum head technologies, Remo's Synthetic Drum heads for World Percussion instruments have proven to be a Sound Choice.

Skyndeep is the graphic infusion of pigment into a polyester surface making it uniquely attractive while maintaining the integrity of a great sounding drum head. Skyndeep is weather resistant, producing warm tones, increases sound volume and projection in any environment.

The Skynnie on the Skyndeep

Comments:

This conga head, like the Remo Skyndeep heads on my Matador bongos, sounds excellent! While I love the traditional warm/complex sound of calfskin, I really dig the sound, feel, durability & thermal stability of these synthetic heads! I play my drums 50/50% indoor (air conditioned)/ outdoor (SW desert climate), so I really prefer that thermal stability I mentioned above. As for the sound, Remo has pretty much perfected the sound of their synthetic heads over the years and these have a nice pure tone with improved projection, presence & a smooth feel on the hands. I have seen where some players don't like the ultra smooth texture of these, but I think it's great. If you like a slightly rougher feel, the Fiberskyn heads may be a better option for you. Drums: Older 10"/ 11" non-Meinl "Headliner Percussion" congas, which came with a nice double-braced stand (not currently used). They appear to have the same SSR counter hoops that Meinl puts on their drums now. Fit: The 9.75" Skyndeep D2 head aluminum "flesh hoop" fit very snugly in my quinto's steel counter hoop, and the tension rods had to be tightened down slowly and methodically to eventually align & seat. Once that occurred, this 10" quinto tuned up fine. Incidentally, the larger 11" conga, had no problem with the 10.75" D2 Skyndeep replacement, and dropped right in perfectly. The quinto's collar depth (distance from the top head surface to the top edge of the counter hoop) is about double what it used to be with the stock calf skin head. I like this because it gives more clearance for my hands while playing- bonus! The 11" conga's collar depth is only slightly more than stock. Overall, I love these heads and would recommend them to any level of player due to their value, durability, stability, and of course, sound! Hope this helps...

Remo head for Meinl Pro Series Conga

Comments:

Smooth surface, good sounding head - fits the Meinl Professional Series conga, though not like a glove. It's a little small for my conga, so I had to be careful tuning evenly to keep the head centered and even.

Awesome Head!

Comments:

There's not much to it, this head just sounds great and feels awesome to play! Nice and warm, good projection, really smooth, everything is perfect. Now I just need to Remo to make soakable flat skin heads for my quinto (this would be amazing). Thanks!
