JGpercussion DH4 David Herbert timpani mallets are made with soft German felt over a medium sized felt core. This mallet has a big legato sound for smooth sounding rolls on timpani of any size. Great for when a big presence is needed in the orchestra – it's perfect for Mahler, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky.

Each pair features an innovative carbon fiber (graphite) shaft and every pair is handmade by JGpercussion. Each stick is 14.5 inches long (37cm) and has a slight taper from the handle to the head of the mallet.

These mallets are some of my favorite. They feel great in the hands and can produce warm rolls in a broad dynamic range. My only complaint is that the wraping started to slide off one of my mallets shortly after I got them, and I had to rewrap it. Otherwise, great mallets!

Love the weight on these. It's a great mallet for rolling if you still need some articulation. I used this mallet last weekend for the Timp. 4 part at the end of Mvmt. 3 of Symphonie Fantastique and before that for excerpts from Symphonic Metamorphosis.

Absolutely amazing tone and balance. I have never gotten a tone as pure as the one I produce with these. The medium rollers are relatively firm so you won't get an overtone so large that it covers up a note. Very good articulation, yet rolls sound perfect. Great on all drums.
